This Week Has Seven Days (7 Days Spring 09) - the wrapup.

Wow, how long has it been since I posted? Don't answer that. Instead, let me tell you that the quarterly snapfest known as 7 Days of Self Portraits (it's all doow's fault!) has just concluded. Here are my week's submissions, but really, you should head on over and check out some of the others.

7Days: Day 1 - The Barf Box

7Days: Day 1 - The Barf Box
Some time ago, I read about using an airline sickness bag as a DIY diffuser . And, since I rarely need a better excuse to do some experimental photography, I snatched the first barf bag I encountered.

Today I finally got the opportunity to play around with it. The results are here. Pity I couldn't have an off-camera flash, but they're much more expensive than the barf bag.

7Days: Day 2 - feat. Puzzle and Rave Boy

7Days: Day 2 - feat. Puzzle and Rave Boy
In keeping with what seems to be my 7 Days tradition, here's the Rave Boy pointing out just where I'm from (though as a rule, I never shut up about my Canadian-ness).

So, 7 Dayers... where are you on this map?

(And in case you missed the links, click here and here. And here.)

7Days: Day 3 - The Lobster Bow

7Days: Day 3 - The Lobster Bow
This lobster bow was given to us as a wedding gift, made by a close family friend. It's actually the end 'bow' of a lobster pot, with a mirror inserted and some very cool stained glass and seaweed art. The idea was to fill the ledge with shells, but at present, it's holding some of the decorative rocks from a friend's wedding last summer (as seen here).

7Days: Day 4 - Beware of Wonk

7Days: Day 4 - Beware of Wonk
I must have taken two dozen selfies today just to get one that didn't make me look goofy, bloated, or just plain bad. I'm settling on one of me outside the security door (the one that keeps people out, not that keeps me in) of my new job (which is now nearly 8-months old). If you can't read the door, it says Nova Scotia Fiscal and Economic Policy. Doesn't it just scream "Fun and Interesting people inside!" ?

7Days: Day 5 - Foolin' Around

7Days: Day 5 - Foolin' Around
Okay, so the "fool" theme is a bit of a stretch here. But Candyland showed up last night, and we just couldn't wait to give it a whirl. Unbeknownst to me, the boys play it all the time at daycare, so I was at a disadvantage; I played the fool, if you will (see what I did there?). Final score: Oliver 1: Jack 1: Daddy 0 *sadface*

7Days: Day 6 - DisemBodied

7Days: Day 6 - DisemBodied
Took a break from my scintillating workday to go check out the reflectables in downtown Halifax. While getting some shots of City Hall, I decided to turn around the other way and get a shot of the handsome devil in the window behind me. Et voila! One-and-two-thirds of me!

7Days: Day 7 - Finale

7Days: Day 7 - Finale
After three or four very different ideas for my final submission, I decided to play around with light. Clearly I need some practice at this (heck, even this took me about 20 takes!), but man oh man it's fun.

Thanks for another great week, everyone. You are truly the nicest people on flickr, and I'm happy to call you my friends. I have made new contacts this time around, and I hope to be seeing you all next time, and in the time between.

What a great time to be working for the Dept of Finance!

Say Hi to Shirley H for me.

Ha ha... wow, this could be awkward.

Wow. I finally meet someone with a job that sounds more boring than mine. Congrats.

Great shots! This is probably going to sound totally weird but I am going to say it anyhow- you look like a young version of my father. And that's a compliment. But it makes me feel familiar with you in an odd way. said... 8:49 PM, April 07, 2009

Gosh... That's where all the fun and interesting people have been going to hide from me?
I could probably teach you how to cheat at Candy Land so that you could actually win... but I'd want to split any winnings 50/50.
Is that last shot toothpaste on a mirror? The Lovely Wife is gonna kick your butt, man! ;-)

Mike, you're not so bad yourself! ;-) Your first and last shots of the week were particularly great.

Megan: Thanks! I think.

Sizzle: Your father, he is a handsome man, yes?

HalfAsstic: No, that last shot is not toothpaste on a mirror. It's the light trail from a nightlight during a 20-second exposure in my dark living room. I would never mar a mirror. Heck no!

Bethany: You're too kind. I'm glad I could pull off some good ones this time around. The inspiration, it comes and goes, no? said... 5:06 PM, April 08, 2009

Well, now that you explained it to my dumb self, I am REALLY impressed. And you are safe. ;-)

Yes, Mike, my father was very handsome. Some said he looked a bit like Steve McQueen.

Love the writing with the tiny smidgen of you next to it!

(You see how far behind I am?)
