Memed again!

It seems that through interweb fate, I've been tagged for a chain letter, er... meme by Krissa over at HalfAsstic. How she found me, I have no idea (likely not looking for scotch reviews or reasons why people's basements are flooding, like most of the other random hits on this blog), but I welcome her as a new (likely temporary) reader. Hey, it's self-deprecation day. Didn't you know?*
Anyway, it goes like this:
1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Write six random things about yourself.
4. Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs.
5. Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.
6. Let your tagger know when your entry is up.
Let the memeing begin!
Random thing 1: I bite my fingernails. It's disgusting and unsightly, but I can't stop for any length of time. Every now and then, I'll quit for a month or so, but it only takes one edgy afternoon at work or suspenseful movie to do them all in. It's a sickness.
Random thing 2: I count when I'm running. Steps, signs, telephone poles, anything that keeps me running.
Random thing 3: I'm annoyingly picky about editorial and grammatical mistakes in the newspaper -- especially "amount vs. number" and "less vs. fewer". And adverbs. Don't make me correct your adverbs. (Some idiom about stones and glass houses springs to mind, but let's not go there right now.)
Random thing 4: I prefer drinking out of glass over plastic. The Lovely Wife is my opposite in this. The whole BPA thing is not good news for her. I also prefer bottles to cans, and I only add that so that there are more random things about me here than about her.
Random thing 5: I regularly try to keep current on topics in which I have no expertise whatsoever. It could be anything: alternative energy, biomedical engineering, architecture, photography... There's something about hearing new terminology and not knowing how to put it into context bothers me, and so my nose is usually where it doesn't belong. This may be why The Lovely Wife looks at me during Jeopardy and says, "And how the HELL did you know that?".
Random thing 6: I'm not excellent at ANYTHING. I am, however, pretty good at a lot of things, and not bad at even more. I will likely never be an Olympian, or finish in first place in any sort of competition that is not (literally) a modern-day cake walk.
Now, to tag six random people would imply that I had a list of people, or could just name people at random even though if given the opportunity to do that, I'd probably name some of the same people the majority of the time. Or maybe I could have formulated some sort of random number generator, also something I cannot do, but can talk at length about, and used that. Instead, I'll change the rules (?) and tag six people from my bloglines who are not A-Listers and who may actually know who I am. (Apologies for calling some of you out -- you're all A-Listers in my book!)
From the 68 people in my "Daily Reads" folder...
1. Chirky
2. Yeah, but Houdini didn't have these hips
3. Mocha Momma
4. jenandtonic
5. Random Access Babble
6. Drowning in Kids, you are my new hero.
*Actually, I hear there are some 300 theme-days in April. No wonder it's the cruelest month. Who could keep up with all that?

i'm making a mental note to do this meme. also, my husband is the same about glass vs. plastic -- he even hates eating off of plastic forks. it drives me crazy, because i don't care which i use, as long as it gets the food/beverage to my mouth. that is all that matters.

I count, too, and I do long division while I'm driving long distances (to stay awake and stave off boredom).

I share your less/fewer and amount/number pet peeves!

I bite my nails too. It is worse for me because I am a girl and am supposed to be a lady. Oh well!

I am totally with you on the whole glass/bottle business. I also can't drink water out of a straw. I mean it.

I'll try not to take it personally that you didn't tag me. ;)

Chirky: I look forward to your randomness :)

sarahlynn: you win for quickest response. Not sure what that says about you.

Sizzle: random, remember? I'd have tagged you (only because everyone else is sick of being tagged by me, no doubt), had it not been random.

I think it says that I'm scared of my novel. (The one I'm writing, not the 15 I'm reading.)

I bite my nails too. Disgusting habit. Also with you on the glass vs plastic - can vs bottle issues.

I actually won a cake in a cake walk once in elementary school at the funfair.
