Check two, check two...

Is this thing still on?

In case anyone's still coming back to see if I've posted anything, I'm here today to tell you that I am back home (though I had another trip yesterday that did not involve jetlag), and my willy-nilly posting regimen will be returning to this here site.

In the meantime, here are a few things to update you on since we last talked:

1. Movember was super fun. Getting on the radio? Even more fun (I'll post the audio soon.) The moustache, however, was not deemed appopriate for public consumption, and thus departed us on December 3rd, after receiving several days grace from The Lovely Wife.

2. Travelling three time zones with kids sucks. Airplanes that need to be de-iced also suck (though can I still say I prefer it to having icy wings?). Both of the previous statements result in children awake when they should be asleep, and eventually asleep when they should be awake.

3. I did something I never, ever do. I took a BIG BOOK on a trip which required an airplane flight. But nearly finishing the final instalment of Harry Potter was worth it. (PS I finished it last night, so feel free to talk about it out loud again.)

4. TLW cannot stop herself from shopping when we go away. Three new jackets and a rug? Of COURSE we planned for that when we took our luggage. Her only saving grace is that she's an expert packer and all around sweet-talker to airline check-in agents, and so managed to only have 4 of our 5 bags labelled "HEAVY / LOURDE", and still not get charged for extra weight. Rest assured, I apologised heartily. And frequently.

5. I have endured so much Christmas in the past week, it's going to take a lot of Irish Coffee to keep me in the festive mood until the 25th arrives. To my boys: Daddy's not soused; he's jolly.

6. I have also had a three week headstart on Christmas chocolate and baking. To my body: It's not really Christmas -- you can stop eating lest we need to go pants shopping.

7.  TLW and
brianna apparently have the same sense of style when it comes to picking out coats for yours truly. This car coat also made it home in well-packed fashion.

8. Last year I took the first week of December to catch up on everyone's NaBloPoMo postings, but this year the combination of vacation, efforts to entertain kids in -28C weather, and a computer that was trapped in the same room as the crib* meant that it's now the 11th of December and everyone's November posts are getting stale. So don't mind me if I leave horribly outdated comments on your posts.

9. My most recent road trip took me up to Cape Breton, a place I don't visit nearly enough. Future monthly visits will be equally as enjoyable, suetes and squalls notwithstanding.  I also think I missed seeing the ocean for 8 days. I may have the prairies in my bones, but I suspect I have saltwater in my veins.

10. There is no number 10. Who writes 9-point lists?

* Never do this, unless you want to appear to be a selfish, uncaring dad who would rather tool around on the computer while everyone else takes care of your kids. If you don't care about this appearance, then by all means set up your office in the nursery.

I am the shopping QUEEN. (ok, fine TLW can share the crown but only if we can check out the jcrew sale rack...)

re #10 ... funny that you should mention that ....

Child unit #4 is currently free-ranging in the front room, while I do my morning rounds. As long as he stays out of the toilets, we're all ok.

So what did you think of Harry?

candy: I thought the ending was alright, but for some time now I've equated Harry with Inspector Gadget, seeing as how he's more luck and help from friends than ingenuity and skill. Or at least it seemed that way to me. I did have issues with the ending, in that I think Harry wasn't thinking the whole thing through and didn't have to sacrifice himself the way he did. No matter, though; it turned out alright ultimately.

Sorry the kid travel was a challenge, and very glad the Movember was a success!
