Hallow Weenies

I've never been particularly creative. Halloweens for me were always last minute costumes, and rarely anything special. Then again, as I've said in previous Halloween posts, nobody really saw your costume where I grew up, as you usually had your parka on over your costume and had to tell everyone what you would have been if your costume were visible.

As much as I hate the recurring forced creativity on Halloween, I see how much fun my kids have in their costumes (okay, just the one in the Spider Man costume) and I'll probably smile and make a decent effort for their sake.

Perhaps the best part of the night was watching Older Son try to muster up some Spider Man moves when requested by our neighbours, since he's never seen the movie and probably only seen the beginning of the old cartoon. Second to that was listening to him croon the Tim Tamashiro jazz/lounge verison of the Spider Man theme song.

Younger Son was generally nonplussed about the whole idea of Halloween. He's still not old enough to brave going right up to people's houses. The best part of taking him out was, upon sensing his hesitance at a house, I decided not to force him to go up with his brother and me, and instead told him to sit in the driveway. Let's just say he was a very obedient puppy dog that night.
