Daddy Weekend Day Saturday: I used to think Long Weekends were relaxing.

I'm reconsidering the kids' names. I think I may now name them:
1) The Gold Medallist Sleeper, and
2) The One Who Eats Nothing but Quaker Corn Bran (or "Cereal Killer")

I tellya, what I lack in providing quality nutrition, I make up for in sheer volume.

But today I managed to:

  • Feed the three of us breakfast (menu: oatmeal, cereal -- guess who?, and pancakes)
  • Get to the Parents of Multiple Births Association clothing sale (held in an ARENA, people!), which by the half-mile line-up to get in, was obviously mistaken for the location of free beer or free babysitting. Note to self: next year, wear elbow pads.
  • Engage in two swimming lessons (thanks to Auntie Tammy!), one of which was a rousing success and the other, uh, not so much.
  • Nap two kids
  • Get diapers on the line.
  • Boil up some chicken stock (okay, so three hours of simmering isn't hard to achieve).
  • Leave the older one at his grandparents for a sleepover
  • Feed the younger one even more corn bran. Note to self: buy more corn bran.
That sound you just heard? That was a cork popping out of a bottle of chilean cab-sauv.

The Lovely Wife returns tomorrow night. And then I can relax, for a couple of hours. And then, it's Monday! And I can go back to my nice, quiet, relaxing job. Who's the best daddy? (Answer: MEEEEE!)

Oh, I nearly forgot. I also disassembled the old IKEA table that has been sitting in our foyer for the last two months. It's no tire, but it still needed somewhere to belong. Somewhere less...visible.

My brother and his missus were at that sale, they got a great haul.

Which Cab-Sauv? I'm currently enjoying a nice Carmenere which I am way too tired to drink.

how did you fit in time to blog? Did you sedate the Cereal Killer?

frozenextremities: I believe it's a Vat #5, Poir Yuron ("Pour Your-Own) from the NSLC. Heh. And from the headache I have today, I would not recommend it. But I'll probably kill the second half tonight.

Steph: notice the timestamps. Usually after 8pm, when the cohabitors are asleep.

You're funny. Poir Yuron, I like that.

My headache beats yours, but that could be a quantity-not-quality issue.

Oh man.. tell me about it. I'm out of town with Fenchurch and her Terrorist right now for the weekend, and she's staying here for an extra 2-3 days. The 6 year old has been driving me nuts this past week that her mom has been on night-shift.

I'm REALLY looking forward to some "me-time"

I'm halfway through a South Oz Wolf Blass Cabernet Sauvignon (2005) that I was supposed to bring to Master Choi's for dinner... Good thing there's plenty of places to buy wine in Winterpeg.
