The Month is Half Over. Or Half Left.

It would appear that I've made it halfway through NaBloPoMo without too much trouble (I haven't yet resorted to posting my iPod playlists). The tally so far:

NaBloPoMo
Scotch (only once!)
Anthropology
Ultimate
Street Hockey
Genealogy
Saving Money
Fiction
Kids (3 times)
Religion
Sickness Math
Canadian celebs from my youth
NaBloPoMo

Stay tuned, and in the latter half of the month you'll see me expose my embarrassing secrets. And if that doesn't go well,.... then you'll hear about my iPod playlists.

Oh! I nearly forgot. Something else is half over as well: Movember.

I received an email from brianna with the subject line: do this and I will buy you a present.

Inside was only a link to this excellent Movember page from Australia.

What is Movember? From the Movember.ca page:

Movember 2006

Movember (the month formally known as November) is a charity event held during November each year.

At the start of Movember guys register with a clean shaven face. The Movember participants known as Mo Bros then have the remainder of the month to grow and groom their moustache and along the way raise as much money and awareness about male health issues as possible.

Movember culminates at the end of the month at the gala parties. These glamorous and groomed events will see Tom Selleck and David Boon look-a-likes battle it out on the catwalk for their chance to take home the prestigious Man of Movember title.

Whilst growing a mo' is left to the guys, Mo Sistas (ladies that support their guys or love mo's!) form an important part of Movember with their powerful feminine touch, by recruiting Mo Bros, helping to raise funds and attending the highly anticipated Gala Parties.

I confessed that there were two reasons (one real reason) why I couldn't participate in Movember this year: I have only been at my new job for less than six months, and really that doesn't give me much leeway in donning a strange and scraggly appearance (I'm not what you'd call successful in the facial hair arena - Reason #2) for an entire month. By Movember 2007, I will have been there for nearly 18 months and I hopefully will have earned myself a little slack from the coworkers for some strange, yet charitable behaviour. I did, however, test out the Movember idea on the past long weekend. The Lovely Wife was less than impressed, but The Toddler thought it was cool.

Edit: After reading through the Canadian Mo'Blog, I'm terribly disappointed that I didn't know about Movember last month. [Le Sigh]

All I know is that Movember page almost sent me into an epileptic seizure.

But just think! -

Movember + NaBloPoMo = theoretically stunningly entertaining blog posts.

Well, at least theoretically stunningly entertaining pictures.

30 days of shoddy psuedo-facial hair!

O, the hilarity.
