I probably should have posted this on a Sunday, but what the hell.

The United Church of Canada's pulled out all the stops in bringing followers back into the fold. Check out the new advertising campaign images.

Frankly, I don't have a problem with most of them, with the possible exception of a few that I just don't quite get. I was under the impression that, in general, the UCC had made steps towards the left (what with female and/or gay clergy), but at least one of their new gimmicks seems slighly right-wing. Perhaps $10 million doesn't get you "obvious".

Oh, and The bible with the stickes? Awesome.

And if those don't work at getting some attention and proving that the United Church is hip, open, and ready to welcome just about anyone... there's always Buddy Christ.

Yeah...I don't really get those ads either. In Canada, do you have the commercials where the gay couple, the old people, etc. are catapulted out of their pews? It is supposed to be some "We don't kick anyone out" campaign by some church group.

The problem with churches in canada is that they ceased to be relevant so long ago that it is difficult to become relevant now. however, i give the united flock two thumbs up for trying.

Okay, side tanget here.

My little boy has a train flip book that he loves looking at every night. On one of the pages you flip this forest up to reveal an old church with some sheep grazing around the church yard.

Every single time Little Man flips open that flap, he says "Sheep go to church." And every single time I have to stiffle a giggle.

Your post title reminded me of this."

Doing really well on your NaBloPoMo, by the way.
